The Christmas excitement is FULL THROTTLE in Room 208! Even though we are so excited, we are doing our best to continue to work and grow!
Classroom News:
This coming Wednesday is our last day before the Holiday Break and we have lots of things to do!
Talent Show: 9:10-10:00
Learning commons: Check out 10:15
Class Party: 1:00-2:00 Thank you to Patty Payton and all of her little elves for organizing! Parents you are welcome to come and enjoy this time with us! I have told the kids if they would like to wear their pajamas on Wednesday they are welcome to wear them!
The end of the 9 weeks is this coming week. Report cards will be coming home the Friday after we return from the holiday.
As we look into the next 9 weeks we have a lot of ground to cover as we round the corner of 3rd grade.
Reading: We continue to master reading comprehension skills. Specifically we are looking at point of view when reading as well as cause and effect. You can work on this at home by asking your child questions while they are reading and even watching TV or movies using these skills.
ELA: We will be teaching the kids how to properly use quotation marks and commas in a dialogue.
Math: We will continue our work on multiplication/division fluency. PLEASE PLEASE work on math facts over the break!!
We will be continuing measurement but we will be moving on to wholes/halves/quarters on a line plot. We will also introduce fractions later in the quarter.
When we return we will revisit perimeter and then move on to fact families with multiplication and division.
Science: We will be exploring the Georgia regions and their land types as well as the animals that inhabit them.
Social Studies: We are introduced to three more historical figures that showed diligence in their lifetime: Mary McCleod Bethune, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt.
Upcoming Dates:
Publix Math Night: Thursday, January 12th 6:30-8:30
No School/MLK Holiday: Monday, January 16th
School Dance: Friday, February 3rd, 6:30-8:00
