The end of the 3rd nine weeks is fast approaching and there is still so much to do!!! We are gearing up for Milestones in Room 208 and they are pumped and ready to go!
Math Facts:
Many of the students have worked very hard and have earned their bubble gum machine and we are so proud. I told them today that it does not mean that they are done practicing math facts. They will be taking the large math fact fluency check on Friday. This will determine their fact fluency grade for this nine weeks. We talked about how when they go to fourth grade they will be jumping right into multiple digit multiplication and long division. If they are not fluent in those math facts, it will be very difficult. Please continue to work on these every night... play games, use apps on their device or just good 'ole flashcards!!!
Milestone Prep:
We have begun a Milestone Prep packet that we will be working on everyday until testing begins. We will be discussing some strategies and reviewing. My hope is that this makes them more focused and confident going into the test. If you are feeling like your child is worried or has any anxiety about the test, please communicate with me so that I can reassure them. They have worked hard all year and this should be a great time for them to "show what they know"!
Camping Day/Book Scouts:
We really talked up Camping Day last week. We planned as a third grade and we are all so excited for the things we have planned!!! Please be prepared for a Sign Up Genius to go out with items we need donated for the day. We will really need your support to make this a success. One station we will be offering is tie-dye pillowcases. (So if your child wants to do one, send them in with a pillow case you want tie dyed.)
Please remember that they must have EIGHT badges done in order to participate in the Camping Day. This has been a great activity to allow them to read across the genres and get excited about reading. They have until next Friday, March 23rd to complete their badges. If you need another packet, let me know!
I know we are nearing the end, but I beg you to help your kiddo not run out of steam! They have worked so hard and they need to finish strong!
Thank you for all that you do to support us and our classroom! If you have any questions or concerns you know how to reach me!
